About the role
We’re hiring a people manager who codes to join our API delivery squad. This is a dual role: you’ll be the line manager for a group of .NET engineers and an active contributor in the squad. You’ll collaborate closely with our Scrum Master, Product Owner and the technical leadership to deliver reliable, secure integrations, while supporting the growth and cohesion of your engineering group, aligned with the direction set by our Engineering Excellence team and program leadership.
What are you going to do?
What you’ll lead (people):
- Own growth and performance for your engineers: regular 1:1s, actionable feedback, clear development plans, performance & salary reviews; set clear expectations and address performance issues early, with care and clarity.
- Support a healthy, inclusive engineering culture within your engineering group, focusing on psychological safety, sustainable pace, and continuous improvement, in alignment with the principles and practices defined by the Engineering Excellence team.
- Plan capacity and hire in partnership with Talent Acquisition and relevant tech leadership; ensure smooth onboarding/offboarding and succession readiness.
- Champion engineering practices within your engineering group (CI/CD, test automation, trunk-based development, observability).
What you’ll build (engineering):
- Design, build, and operate .NET/C# APIs and services on Azure, following API-first, secure and privacy-conscious design practices with a strong attention to data protection and compliance (e.g., GDPR, DORA).
- Contribute to design reviews, code reviews, test automation (unit/contract/integration/E2E), and deployments via Azure DevOps.
- Improve reliability with monitoring, logging, and alerting; participate in incident reviews and operational readiness.
- Collaborate across squads and platforms (.NET, Azure, Databricks) to deliver scalable, maintainable integrations.
What do we expect from you?
Must have
- Previous line-management experience (or equivalent formal people-lead responsibilities such as hiring, performance/salary reviews, and coaching).
- Comfortable giving and receiving candid feedback; able to coach both senior and junior engineers.
- A solution-oriented .NET engineer who enjoys enabling others and working across teams.
- Strong experience in C#/.NET for APIs/microservices and Azure services/integration patterns.
- Solid grasp of the test pyramid and delivery through Azure DevOps (CI/CD, feature toggles, trunk-based).
- Comfortable with IaC, monitoring, and logging; value production quality as much as delivery speed.
- A collaborative, humble leader who gives clarity, sets expectations, and grows people.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Engineering (or similar).
- Strong communication skills in Latvian and English to communicate with colleagues from different countries
Our promise to you
- Monthly salary: €4500 - €5600 gross depending on your qualifications
- Strong company culture: knowledge sharing, company events, interesting speakers, and other inspiring initiatives
- Career and development opportunities (e.g. 3 dedicated up-skilling days) in the biggest insurance company in the Nordics
